![]() And if you still do wanna watch it, do it for Varun & Vaid. He's fantastic! On the whole, 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' is not a feminist film nor is it an awesome depiction of how some men pursue women in small-towns. Of the supporting cast, Sahil Vaid is a particular standout as Varun's best friend. The on-screen chemistry between the two, is nice. He's terrific! Alia is good, of course, but nothing to match her previous performances. Despite being given a rather flawed character, Varun adds energy & depth to the part. Performance-Wise: Varun entertains & how! He's the life & soul of 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania'. Music by Various Artists is foot-tapping as well as soothing. Shashank's Direction, on the other-hand, is decent, at best. However, the dialogue are superb at places & raise some genuine laughs. Shashank's Writing needed to be strong & even more mature. But in between, are some moments of fun & some completely opposite of that. As mentioned earlier, its an uneven film, that's sweet in parts & ends with well. But post-interval, when the story shifts to the beautiful Singapore, the narrative begins to slow-down. While the first-hour, keeping the stalking & selfishness aside, has some fun moments, that bring a smile on your face. Sure, the culmination to this story has a good message overall & even Badri's arc from an idiot to a mature man, is well-done. Shashank's Writing depicts two unlikable people, to whom, we are suppose to fall in love with. And this is exactly where 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' falters. Why is Hindi Cinema still taking the case of stalking a girl, as fun? Secondly, Vaidehi is a career-oriented women, agreed, but in turn using a man & then disrespecting his entire family, is selfish & nothing to root for. Badri falls for Vaidehi, but in order to purse her, the Idiot from Jhansi stalks her in college & even jumps onto a bus to chit-chat. ![]() 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' has a sweet story to tell, but the depiction of love & feminism is depicted in rather poor taste. ![]() This leads to a clash of ideologies, despite both of them recognizing the goodness in each other. But, in terms of Writing, the film is uneven & not very engaging! 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' Synopsis: Badrinath Bansal (An Excellent Varun Dhawan) from Jhansi and Vaidehi Trivedi (Alia Bhatt, good as usual) from Kota belong to small towns but have diametrically opposite opinions on everything. The second installment of a franchise that began with the entertaining Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania back in 2014, 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' Directed by Humpty's Shashank Khaitan, is an okay film, that has some fun moments & a first-rate lead male performance to earn itself a viewing. ![]()
